Our Extended Feline Family

THE SAND CATS AT TWYCROSS ZOO

This is our first "adopted family!"
They are Sand Cats and lives at Twycross Zoo. This female lives with her daughters in a special glass fronted enclosure. Next year it is hoped that an outside run will be built so these cats can go out when the weather is really good. Sand Cats must be kept in warm temperatures with very low humidity,
normally about 20% or their health can be
severely affected. Most of these photos were taken though the glass of their enclosed unit. They are, by nature, very shy cats.

The photo on the right is of the male Sand Cat at Twycross. What you cannot see is, his keeper is holding a large chicken leg directly above his head to grab his attention so I could get this photo--Thanks for helping me to
capture this special moment Mark!
