COVENTRY & LEICESTER CAT CLUB, 26th February 2005

My thanks to Mark, Lesley and the committee for inviting me to the show. Special thanks to Susan Marsh for stewarding, handling the cats well and being such good company on a busy day. I look forward to working with Susan again.

AOV SLH CHAMPION MALE
GRC – CANNELL’S CH MABALAKAT BIGGIRLSBLUES, 64 16, 04.10.03

Blue Maine Coon. A very impressive lad, well balanced and beautifully presented. Strong masculine head of good length and breadth. Large ears, set high on the head and beautifully furnished with tips and tufts. Green eyes, set slightly obliquely, although for perfection I would like to see them just a little larger and they are a little deep set. Good shallow concave curve to the nose. Square muzzle leading to a fairly firm chin of good depth. Wonderful long rectangular body, muscular and substantial. Lovely large boning to limbs and feet. Very well furnished tail reaching the shoulders. Full ruff and breeches, coat of very good length to the body being shorter over the shoulders and lengthening down the sides. Some undercoat present, covered with a good glossy topcoat. Deeper shade of blue, quite solid to the roots. Wonderful to handle and shown in excellent condition.
RESERVE – SEDGWICK’S CH CATWO ARTIMUS, 67 31t, 09.11.03
Red & White Norwegian Forest Cat, although in my book, he was listed as a brown tabby & white, I understand that this was a paperwork error and hopefully it has now been rectified. A masculine lad, large and substantial with a nice expression. Fairly large ears, beautifully furnished and set just over an ear’s width apart and in line with the rest of the triangular head. Head of good triangular shape and very good overall length. Amber eyes, set very well in a good oblique setting. Nasal profile is almost straight. I would like to see the chin just a little deeper and firmer. This boy is deceptively heavy, with a lovely long muscular body. Nice large boning to limbs and feet. Well furnished tail, reaching the shoulders. Full winter coat with ruff and knickerbockers. Lots of woolly undercoat to keep him warm, covered with a good waterproof harsher topcoat. He looks much better out of the pen than in it. A little shy but handled very well.

AOV SLH CHAMPION FEMALE
GRC – STONE’S CH BRIZLINCOAT FLEUR, 63a, 28.06.02

Sorrel Somali. A very pretty girl, very elegant and nicely balanced, with a gorgeous expression. She really did simile! Lovely head shape, moderate wedge and lovely gentle contours. Slight rise from the nasal bridge to the high forehead. Large well cupped ears, nicely furnished, set well apart and high to give a really alert and inquisitive expression. Beautiful green eyes, large and set obliquely, almond shaped and nicely marked with spectacles and pencil lines. Slight nose break present, but there is a very small drop-off towards the end. I loved her muzzle shape, it really produced that famous Somali smile. Firm chin. Medium sized body, lovely muscular feel to it, balancing the head well. Long limbs, nicely tufted oval feet. Well furnished tail, tapering slightly towards the tip and balancing the body nicely. Very well groomed coat, medium length, soft fine texture and lying flat over the sine line. Some frontal ruff, framing the face well, full breeches. Her coat colour gives the impression of a lovely rich copper with a warm apricot base, well ticked with cinnamon. Darker spine line and top of tail, very well marked heels. Slight leg bars present. Super to handle and presented beautifully.
RESERVE – ALLEN’S CH SILKIESTAR LADY LYDIA, 66w, 06.06.99
Seal Mitted Ragdoll. A mature girl with the most fantastic temperament. Medium sized ears, set wide apart and with a slightly forward tilt, good flat plane between them. Broad head of good length, well developed cheeks, good rounded muzzle, firm chin. Gentle dip to the nasal profile. Large mid blue eyes, set slightly obliquely. Body quite long, nicely muscled, broad chest. Nice boning to limbs and feet, large round paws. Long tail, quite well furnished. Medium length coat, good silky texture, quite full ruff and knickerbockers. Nicely marked mittens, left back leg white almost to the level of the body, right leg white to the hock. White chin, white to the bib, chest and the underbody. Coat was quite deeply shaded but still contrasted with the seal points of the head and tail. A joy to handle and very well presented for the show.

AC SILVER SOMALI KITTEN
2ND TOPPS’ KATSALLEY LEGOLAS, 63as, M, 15.07.04

Sorrel Silver Somali. A very well grown lad indeed, super body size and shape but his head isn’t quite there yet. Lovely large ears, set high on the head and quite wide apart, cupped and pricked and well furnished. At the moment, his head is rather long, narrow and foxy with a muzzle that is pointed, rather than a series of gentle contours. Hopefully the cheeks will fill out and gentle curves will develop and become more apparent as he matures and this will then improve the overall head shape a great deal. Well marked green eyes with spectacles and eye liner, although I would like to see them just a little more almond in shape, as they appear a little round and bold. Very slight nose break present. Chin could be a little firmer. Fabulous body, long, elegant and very muscular. Long legs, nicely tufted oval feet. Quite well balanced tail, very well furnished for age. Ruff starting to develop, fairly full breeches. Coat starting to lengthen over the body, nice soft dense texture. Nicely marked heels, some leg bars present, necklace present although it is broken. Silvery white base, ticked well with quite a deep shade of cinnamon. Unfortunately, he does have a substantial amount of tarnishing present, particularly to the front legs and tummy area. This boy really does have the most amazing affectionate temperament and truly loves all the attention he can get! I was very sorry to have to withhold the first place, but I felt that I could not award it because of the head shape and the level of tarnishing. I do hope that his head fills out as he matures and that the tarnishing diminishes as his adult coat develops. Beautifully presented and shown in super condition.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN MALE
1ST SCOTT’S FENRISULVEN CYRUS, 67 31dt, M, 06.10.04

Red Tabby & White. A very well grown kitten with a true NFC expression. Really large ears, set high and at the moment quite close together, and they should look very well balanced indeed as his head broadens and matures. Head of excellent overall length, still on the narrow side as one might expect of a kitten of this age, but very nice triangular shape developing and a good tapering muzzle. Very nice eye shape, excellent oblique set. Nasal profile almost straight. Good firm deep chin. Lovely long body, very well muscled, large limbs and feet. Tail easily reached the shoulders, furnishings developing. Short kitten coat at the moment. Lovely to handle and well presented.
2ND HAMILTON-BRUCE’S FORESTDANCER LEOPOLD, 67 31ts, MN, 05.08.04
Silver Tabby & White. Two months older than my winner and another very well grown lad with wonderful body size and really large boning. Large ears, well furnished and set about an ear’s width apart. Head slightly shorter than my winner’s and at the moment the muzzle area appears slightly blunt and rounded rather than tapering, possibly due to him teething. Very expressive green eyes, set slightly obliquely, perhaps needing to be just a little more obliquely set for perfection. Nasal profile shows a slight curve rather than being really straight. Chin of good depth, fairly firm. Fabulous body, really long and substantial, huge limbs and feet. Very well furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders and balancing the body well. Wonderful coat length and texture, full ruff and knickerbockers, lots of woolly undercoat and he already has a good waterproof topcoat present. I hope that his head shape develops as he finishes teething and matures. Nicely groomed for the show.

NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN FEMALE
1ST & BOB, DALE’S JHARDUFAE FIRECRACKER, 67 31t, 01.07.04

Brown Tabby & White. This girl has a lovely expression. Large ears, nicely furnished and set high on the head, in line with the rest of the triangular head shape. Excellent overall head length, with breadth developing well. Very well set eyes, large and in the correct oblique setting. Beautiful ruler straight profile to the nose. Firm chin. Long body, firm muscular feel to it. Very well furnished tail, reaching the shoulders. Shorter coat at the moment, some woolly undercoat with a harsher waterproof topcoat developing well. Mackerel tabby pattern with white to the face, bib, chest, tummy and limbs. Super to handle and well presented. Shown in lovely condition.
2ND HAMILTON-BRUCE’S FORESTDANCER SOPHIE, 67 31ts, 05.08.04
Silver Tabby & White. I see now that this is the litter sister to my 2nd placed boy, and my comments about her are very similar to the ones I made about him. Large, well placed ears, very well furnished indeed. Head on the shorter side, and she also has a rounded muzzle. Again, I suspect that teething may have something to do with this. Large green eyes, set slightly obliquely. Profile shows a slight curve at the moment. Chin quite firm. Like her brother, she also has a wonderful long and substantial body with lovely large boning. Very well balanced tail, reaching the shoulders and furnished very well. Long winter coat with a good woolly undercoat, topcoat still a little soft and not quite as good as her brother’s. Today she was not to impressed with her neighbours and was a little grumbly. This probably made her puff out her whisker pads making her muzzle appear more rounded rather than tapering. Nicely presented.

NORWEGIAN FOREST NEUTER MALE
BOB, DALE’S PR NORDLYS GILLIS, 67 31t, 05.04.02

Quite full winter coat, good waterproof topcoat covering the woolly base. Nice to handle and well presented. This boy has real presence.

2ND SEDGEWICK’S CH CATWO APOLLO, 67 31t, 09.10.02

Good straight nasal profile. Fairly firm chin. Body quite long, nicely balancing the head, good weight and muscle tone. Nice boning to limbs and feet. Tail reached the shoulders and was very well furnished. Full ruff, coat of very good length to the body with nice texture, full knickerbockers. Nicely presented.
3RD WHEELER’S PR SNOKRYSTAL CEBASTIAN, 67 18d, 05.01.01
Red Silver Tabby. Another boy with a lovely expression. Super triangular head of very good overall length. Quite large ears, well furnished and set in line with the rest of the head shape. Amber eyes, set very well indeed, very good oblique set. Nasal profile almost straight. Firm chin. Really long and substantial body, this boy certainly enjoys his food! Wonderful large limbs and feet. Nicely balanced tail, very well furnished. Long winter coat, he could certainly survive the harsh winters with this, excellent woolly undercoat with a good waterproof topcoat. I really did like this boy such a lot, and would have placed him high, but I feel that his head size does not quite balance that body size. A true gentleman, wonderful to handle and groomed beautifully.
4TH KEMP’S SNOWSCAPE ANDAV NORGE, 67 31ats, 14.06.03
Blue Silver Tabby & White. A very well grown young man. Quite large ears, beautifully furnished and set high on the head. Triangular head of very nice length. Obliquely set green eyes. Nasal profile shows a slight change in direction. Muzzle appears a touch rounded, perhaps needing to be just a little more tapering for perfection, although the position of the white on the face makes it look more rounded than it actually is. Excellent long muscular body, nice large boning to legs and paws. Tail reached the shoulders and was well furnished. Full coat with ruff and knickerbockers, very good woolly undercoat, some harsher guard hairs present. Well presented and nicely groomed.

NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT CLUB, 19th February 2005

A thoroughly enjoyable show with a wonderful atmosphere and a lot of really top quality cats to judge – what more could I ask for? It was brilliant to see such a lot of wonderful Forest Cats under one roof. My thanks to Anne, Brian and the committee for inviting me to judge, and to my husband, Steve, for stewarding today.

A.C. PREMIER MALE
Two lads in this class, and both worthy of the Grand.
GRP – COWARD’S GR PR NORDLYS ATHANASIAS, 67 31ts, MN, 02.05.03
Silver Tabby & White. A very large yet elegant gentleman who really knew how to stand proudly on the table and has the most wonderful NFC expression. Large ears, set high on a lovely triangular head of very good overall length. Large green eyes, set very well in a good oblique. Excellent straight nasal profile. Good depth to the fairly firm chin. Long muscular body, very substantial and weighty, huge limbs and feet. Very well furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders. Full ruff, excellent coat qualities with a good woolly undercoat covered with a waterproof topcoat. It would certainly keep him warm in those Scandinavian winters. Fantastic to handle and groomed beautifully. A worthy winner and one I could have taken home.
RESERVE – PEEK’S PR WESTRIKATT KESS, 67 17, MN, 03.03.03
Silver Tabby. Another very nice exhibit indeed. Lovely triangular head shape, not quite as strong as my winner’s today but excellent shape and length. Quite large ears, very well furnished and set about an ear’s width apart on the head. Expressive green eyes, obliquely set, giving that distinct NFC expression. Straight nasal profile, just the tiniest hint of a bump present. Firm chin of good depth. Lovely long body, well muscled and substantial, large limbs and standing slightly higher on the backs than the fronts as desired. Another lad with a super winter coat, full ruff and knickerbockers, lots of woolly undercoat and harsher guard hairs present to produce that waterproof texture. Another lad who was very well presented and great to handle.

A.C. TABBY & WHITE ADULT, MALE
CC, TIPPER’S IISAKKU NICODEMUS OF TRAPPISTINI, 67 31ts, 30.04.03

Silver Tabby & White. A very chatty young man who loved the attention. Large ears, set quite high and very well furnished indeed. Triangular head shape, very masculine and of good breadth, although I would like to see the overall length just a little longer for perfection, just to balance that masculine breadth. Quite obliquely set eyes, large and of a lovely deep green colour. Straight profile to the nose, just a tiny drop-off right at the tip. Chin could be just a little stronger to really balance the rest of the head, but was of very good depth. Long body, typical working lad being a touch on the rangy side at the moment as you might expect of an entire male of this age. Good large boning to limbs and feet. Long tail, easily reaching the shoulder and quite well furnished. At the moment his coat is on the shorter side – I suspect that like many stud boys at the moment he is spending his time lazing under the heat lamp and his body thinks that its full summer! Some ruff present, coat lengthening down the back with some undercoat present, quite full knickerbockers. I do feel that he will look much more balanced when his full coat comes back in. Very nice to handle, he did enjoy a cuddle.

A.C. TABBY & WHITE ADULT, FEMALE
What a class! Six very nice girls, all with something special to offer. Consequently judging this class took ages because of the quality of the exhibits and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Its just a shame that there is only one CC to award!
CC & BOB, HEALING’S JARRAHKATT AZZARA, 67 31t, 04.09.01
Brown Tabby & White. A mature female with a true NFC expression. Very well balanced triangular head of very good overall length and breadth. Quite large ears, nicely furnished and set high on the head and in the triangle. Gorgeous green eyes, large and beautifully set in a very good oblique. Excellent straight profile. Quite firm chin of nice depth. Long body, balancing the body well, muscular and elegant. Well furnished tail, reaching the shoulders. Nicely boned limbs and feet. Coat had a nice woolly undercoat, perhaps the topcoat was just a touch soft, although better towards the haunches, quite full ruff and knickerbockers. This girl has a temperament to be very proud of – she can’t wait to come out and be cuddled. Super condition and groomed beautifully.
2ND HERMON’S ADFURLO AISLING, 67 31t, 06.04.04
Brown Tabby & White. A well grown young lady for ten months old, already showing good balance and substance. Large ears, nicely furnished and set just over an ear’s width apart on the head. Head of very nice overall length and triangular shape. Large green eyes, set very nicely in a good oblique setting. Nasal profile almost straight. Muzzle appeared a little rounded rather than tapering, although she did have some white markings to the whisker pads that did make it appear more rounded than it actually was. Firm deep chin. Long body, rectangular, muscular and weighty. Lovely large limbs and feet. Very well furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders. Full Elizabethan ruff, coat of excellent length to the body with lots of woolly undercoat, and the hasher guard hairs developing. Attractive ticked tabby pattern, contrasting nicely with the white. Beautifully presented and very nice to handle.
3RD HANDY’S COSCATHAS PRU, 67 31t, 24.04.04
Brown Tabby & White. Another very well grown girl indeed, already showing balance, substance and presence. Lovely large ears, well furnished and set about an ear’s width apart on the triangular head. Overall, the head was slightly shorter than the previous two cats, and I would perhaps like to see the muzzle just a little longer and slightly more tapered to really complete the triangle. Lovely green eyes, quite obliquely set. Excellent straight profile to the nose. Firm chin of good depth. Really long rectangular body, substantial and very muscular, a deceptively weighty yet very elegant young lady. Lovely coat length with full ruff and knickerbockers, substantial amount of woolly undercoat present and already the harsher guard hairs are developing nicely. Presented beautifully.
4TH HERMAN’S ADFURLO ALLEGRETTO, 67 31t, 06.04.04
Brown Tabby & White. Litter sister to my second placed girl. This girl has a very nice triangular head of excellent overall length and broadening nicely. Quite large ears, set just over an ear’s width apart, although she does have a tendency to bonnet and flare them until her attention is gained. Well set green eyes, large and expressive. Profile almost straight. Chin quite firm. Lovely long substantial body with a super muscular feel to it. Long limbs, well boned, large feet. Well furnished tail, reaching the shoulders. Excellent coat all round, full ruff and knickerbockers, good woolly undercoat covered with a waterproof topcoat. She has white toes to her feet, although the rest of her is brown tabby, so just made it into this class today. Another well presented young lady who handled well.

A.C. SIBERIAN ADULT, KITTEN OR NEUTER
MERIT – SYMONDS’ SILKIESTAR LIUDMILA, 82 20, F, 18.02.04

Brown Tabby. This girl just states “Siberian” to me! A well grown and nicely balanced girl all round, with a lovely expression. Medium sized ears with rounded tips and set well apart on the head. Short broad wedge to the head, low set cheekbones, connected to the whisker pads and chin by a gentle rounded line. Very expressive oval eyes set slightly obliquely and wide apart. Nasal bridge shows the correct slight shallow concave curve, uniform width to the nose. Broad rounded muzzle, slightly rounded chin. Medium length body, good rectangular shape, heavy, and balancing the head well. Broad chest. Medium length limbs, well boned, lovely large round paws, very well tufted. Well furnished tail, broad at the base and tapering slightly towards the tip, reaching the shoulder blades. Medium length coat, dense soft fine undercoat with a slightly coarser topcoat. When the coat was felt, there was resilience and “bounce” to it. Quite full ruff, well developed breeches. Nicely marked warm classic brown tabby pattern. This girl was an absolute joy to handle and was beautifully presented. She had a real “take me home” expression. I feel that she was well worthy of the Merit today and is a lovely example of the breed. I see that it was her first birthday yesterday. Hope that her owner gave her something special! A girl like this deserves it!
MERIT – SYMONDS’ RADZIMIERZ SOKOLOV, 82 16, M, 22.07.04
Blue. A very well grown young man with a very substantial and muscular feel to him. Head shows a good short broad wedge, with rounded contours developing and breadth developing. Low cheeks, filling out well. Ears of medium size, still sitting a little high on the head and I feel that once it broadens their set should widen nicely. Green eyes, slightly rounded lower line and very nice oval shape, set well apart, producing a very overall expression. Good shallow nasal curve, slightly rounded muzzle formed by the whisker pads. Short neck. Lovely large masculine body, very well grown indeed for less than seven months old, solid and rectangular. Body balanced very well with the head. Nicely furnished tail for age, reaching the shoulders and slightly tapering towards the tip. Coat of nice length and texture for a young male, particularly solid blue where the coat may tend to be slightly softer. Dense undercoat with a “springy” feel to it. Solid blue colour, quite deep shade, very attractive. Wonderful condition and temperament. Super to handle. A very promising lad, already well grown and showing a very nice expression.
MERIT – SYMONDS’ RADZIMIERZ KORCHNOI, 82 16, M, 22.07.04
Blue. Litter brother to the previous kitten. A large and substantial lad, already showing masculinity and good breadth to the head. Mediums sized ears, wide apart and rounded at the tips. Head already shows balance with good breadth, a short wedge and low set cheek bones which are already filling out well, slightly rounded muzzle and chin. Good slight concave curve to the nose. Slightly domed lower forehead. Slightly obliquely set green eyes, nice oval shape. A little straighter across the top lid than the previous exhibit and perhaps just a little more deeply set, green and expressive. Short neck, leading to a large framed body, weighty and substantial. Well balanced tail easily reaching the shoulder blades with furnishings developing well and tapering slightly towards the tip. Good dense soft undercoat, with some coarser guard hairs present and resilience can be felt when the coat is felt. Similar to his brother, the coat is still kittenish and softer as one would expect for a solid blue of this age. Quite deep blue colour, although his base is slivery making me think that he may actually be a blue smoke rather than a solid blue. A super chap all round, showing lots of promise. He already has a lovely masculine expression, very well grown and he was a dream to handle.

A.C NORWEGIAN FOREST TABBY WITHOUT WHITE ADULT
1ST TIPPER’S SYLVANNIA’S ZASCHA, 67 20, F, 18.0.01

Brown Tabby. A mature girl with a lovely expression, so typical of the breed! Quite large ears, set about an ear’s width apart and in line with the rest of the triangle. Triangular head of excellent overall length and balancing the breadth well. Green eyes, beautifully set in a very good oblique setting. Excellent straight nasal profile. Firm deep chin. Long body, very muscular and balancing the head well. Tail easily reached the shoulders and was very well furnished. Fabulous coat, full ruff and knickerbockers, substantial woolly undercoat covered by a harsher waterproof topcoat. Warm brown tabby pattern. Lovely to handle and nicely presented. A very nice girl all round.
2ND WOOD’S NORSKMAGI FORST SVANA, 67 18a, F, 12.04.04
Blue Silver Tabby. If this girl ever escaped from her pen, I would have no hesitation in knowing what breed she was to be able to put her back in the right pen. She just oozes NFC. Well furnished ears, perhaps just a fraction small, but well set and very well furnished. Triangular head of nice length and balanced breadth. Obliquely set green eyes, large and very expressive. Excellent straight profile. Firm deep chin. Medium sized body, balanced well with the head and a very good muscular feel to it, fairly large limbs and feet. Wonderful tail, long, reaching the shoulders and beautifully furnished. Coat still a little soft, excellent woolly undercoat with harsher guard hairs starting to develop. She is beautifully balanced, and although on the smaller side, she is a very nice young lady. She still has lots of time to develop further. Super to handle – she couldn’t wit to come out to see me. Presented very well indeed.
3RD DEAN’S VOLSUNG XERXES, 67 19, M, 20.04.04
Red Tabby. A very promising lad indeed with a super head length, really long body and fabulous large ears. I look forward to seeing him again when his coat develops as at the moment it is shorter as one might expect for a young male just into adult classes. Very promising for the future.

A.O.C. NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT
1ST HEALING’S JHARDUFAE ROLLS QUEEN, 67 13, F, 01.04.04

Black & White. A well grown girl with a real Sylvester coat pattern. Large ears, set about an ear’s width apart on a triangular head of very nice overall length and showing good breadth. Well set green eyes, expressive and in a nice oblique setting. Good staring nasal profile. Firm deep chin. Long muscular body, quite large limbs and feet . Very well furnished tail reaching the shoulders and balancing the body well. Full ruff and knickerbockers, nice coat length to the body with some woolly undercoat and harsher guard hairs present. Lovely to handle and very well presented with sparkling whites.
2ND WRIGHT’S ANGEL VOM RISTEDTER MOOR, 67 31, F, 28.08.03
Black & White. A very alert girl, interested in everything going on around her. Lovely large ears, currently sitting rather close together. Triangular head, still a little on the narrow side and needing to broaden. Once the head broadens, those ears should look much better placed. Lovely eye shape and set, bright green colour. Good straight profile. Fabulous firm deep chin. Medium sized body, very muscular and elegant. Long limbs. Well furnished tail reaching the shoulders. Some ruff present coat lengthening down the back with some woolly undercoat present and harsher guard hairs lengthening. Very well presented and easy to handle.

A.C. NORWEGAN FOREST TORTIE WITHOUT WHITE KITTEN
1ST SPENCE’S LANDSKER NAEVE, 67 20e, F, 29.06.04

Tortie-Tabby. A nicely grown girl with a very pretty expression. Lovely large ears, well furnished, still sitting close together on the head, although I feel that the breadth between the ears will increase as the head broadens. Triangular head of very nice length, still to broaden as one might expect from a young lady of this age. Large well placed eyes, obliquely set. Nasal profile is almost straight. Chin quite firm. Lovely body, very well grown and substantial, long and rectangular, excellent weight and nicely balanced. Large limbs and feet. Nicely furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders. Coat already showing some woolly undercoat and harsher guard hairs, nice length with ruff and knickerbockers. Very attractive coat pattern with a mingled mixture of red and brown tabby. Superb temperament, fabulous to handle and very well presented for the show.

One of my young Siberian boys, reported above.
2ND MOLAN’S TEGWEL DAFYDD, 67 15, M, 10.08.04
Black. This boy had the most amazing temperament and I even threatened my husband that I would divorce him to marry this kitten instead! Triangular head, already showing masculinity and very good breadth, perhaps I would like to see the overall head length just a fraction longer for perfection because the breadth is so well developed for a young man. Quite large ears, set well, about an ears width apart and nicely furnished. Lovely obliquely set green eyes. Nasal profile generally straight, just a very slight nose bump present. Good firm deep chin. Wonderful long body, excellent rectangular shape, very substantial and muscular indeed. Fabulous huge boning, massive limbs and feet. Excellent coat texture and length for age with ruff, knickerbockers and a woolly undercoat covered by longer guard hairs covering the body. Nicely balanced tail with furnishings developing well. This boy knew just how to woo the judge – he licked my fingers, neck, cheeks and chin, and really did not want to leave me. What a wonderful lad to share your home with! At the end of the day, I could not stop thinking about his amazingly affectionate temperament and, against some stiff competition, made him my “judge’s favourite”. If he ever decides that he fancies emigrating, my door is always open. Who could resist affection like that?

A.C. VISITORS (MORE THAN 25 MILES FROM SHOW) KITTEN
1ST DOBSON’S MAYSULA REIDAR, 67 31ts, M, 11.07.04

Silver Tabby & White. This boy had a very nice NFC expression. Large ears, and although he does have a tendency to flare them, he can hold them up when his attention is gained. Well defined triangular head of excellent overall length, particularly for a young male. Green eyes, nicely set in a good oblique. Nose generally quite straight, although there is a slight change in direction present at the moment. Quite firm chin of good depth. Lovely body shape and substance, long and rectangular with excellent weight and muscle tone. Nice large boning to limbs and feet. Tail balanced the body and was well furnished for age. Coat length developing, some ruff, quite full knickerbockers, some woolly undercoat to the body, the coat still has a typically softer kitten coat texture at the moment. Very well presented and nice to handle.
2ND HANDY’S NORSKMAGI HENNESEY, 67 31, M, 03.10.04
Black & White. I was really impressed by this lad’s size, shape and substance as he is just a baby at four and a half months old. Large ears, set high on the head and about an ear’s width apart. Good triangular head shape of nice overall length and already starting to develop some breadth and a masculine expression. Large eyes, quite obliquely set. Profile almost straight. Firm chin of good depth. Long, weighty and substantial body, lovely large boning to limbs and feet. Tail reached the shoulders, furnishings starting to develop. Soft kitten coat of good length for a baby. I look forward to watching this boy’s development as I think that a she matures and his head broadens, he could develop into a very nice young man.

A.C. SELF NEUTER
1ST TAYLOR’S DRAKEKATT ARNE, 67 15, MN, 29.05.01

Black. A mature lad with a very gentle nature. Quite large ears, well furnished and set nicely on the triangular head. Masculine head of nice overall length and showing good triangular lines. Green eyes, set fairly obliquely, perhaps just needing to be a little more obliquely set for perfection. Excellent straight profile to the nose. Firm chin of nice depth. Lovely long weighty body, well muscled. Tail reached the shoulders and was well furnished. I was particularly impressed with this boy’s coat, lots of woolly undercoat covered with an excellent slightly harsher waterproof topcoat, full ruff and knickerbockers, coat of very good length indeed. This lad would have no problems in the harsh Scandinavian winters. Shown in super condition, groomed well and a joy to handle.

A.C.NON-SELF NEUTER
1ST TAYLOR’S ADTRELO DRAKEKATTDYLAN, 67 20, MN, 27.07.03

Brown Tabby. I see that this is the stable mate and half brother of Arne, reported above. Very well balanced triangular head with large, very well furnished ears, in line with the rest of the triangle. Very nice eye shape, well set in the correct oblique setting. Nasal profile almost straight. Chin quite firm and of good depth. A very substantial body, long and heavy – this boy obviously enjoys his food. Tail just about balanced the body and was well furnished. I feel that his head does appear a little small in comparison to the body at the moment. Another lad with wonderful coat length and texture, good woolly base with a substantial waterproof topcoat, full ruff and knickerbockers. Another boy who could easily survive even the coldest winters. Nice to handle and well presented.

2ND HEALING’S CH JHARDUFAE BEANO BEN, 67 18, MN, 09.08.03
Silver Tabby. This boy ran my winner very close indeed. I went back and forth between the two several times before coming to my final decision. Good triangular head shape of nice overall length. Fairly large ears, well furnished and set well. Very nice green eyes, large and set in a good oblique set. Very good straight profile to the nose. Chin quite firm. Excellent long body, heavy and substantial with a muscular feel to it. Large boning to limbs and feet. Balanced tail, reaching the shoulders and furnished well. Long winter coat with full ruff and knickerbockers. Very good woolly undercoat with a harsher topcoat. This boy stood on the tail with a real air of pride. He is lovely, and he knew it!

Brown Tabby & White.

A.C. SENIOR NEUTER
1ST FROMANT’S PR SMYLEE KATINKA, 67 31gts, FN, 04.06.98

Blue Silver Tortie-Tabby & White. A substantial mature lady with a very pretty coat pattern. Quite large ears, very well furnished indeed and set fairly high on the head. Triangular head of good overall length and balanced breadth. Nasal profile almost straight. Chin could do with a little more strength and depth to really complement the strength to the rest of the head. Lovely long and substantial body. Because her beautiful body is so long, her tail was just a touch on the short side, but very well furnished. Full winter coat, ruff and knickerbockers with woolly undercoat and slightly harsher waterproof topcoat. Very attractive mingled coat of blue silver, cream and white. Nicely presented and handled well.

1ST JONES’ DAYJOY DILLON, 67 31t, MN, 20.04.03

Brown tabby with a smashing pair of tufted tips to the ears
2ND LINDGREN’S MARAJADE ALFREDTHEGREAT, 67 20, MN, 01.07.04
Brown tabby kitten who had very well grown lynx tips and ran my winner very close.
3RD RUBERY’S NOYNAROCK SPARTICUS, 67 31dt, M, 14.08.04
Nicely furnished ears to this red tabby & white.
4TH GORDON’S KOOLFUR BLAMANN HVITEPUS, 67 31a, MN, 04.11.02
This blue & white boy had the most amazing furnishings coming from the inner edges of the ears – they went almost halfway down the sides of the face. If the class had been for best furnished rather than lynx-like tufts, then he would have won this class hands down. These furnishings were so long that you could probably have tied them in a knot behind the head. Quite amazing!

2ND SPOONER’S KVASIR MIRAKEL, 67 31t, F, 23.05.04

SHROPSHIRE CAT CLUB 5th February 2005

Thanks to Di and the team for the kind invite. Another lovely day at Bingley Hall with lots of quality cats to handle, meaning that some had to go without prizes when they were well worthy of one. My special thanks to Kerensa Leatherland, who gave up a precious day to steward for me when she should really have been completing her university assignments.

NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT MALE
CC, SEDGWICK’S CH CATWO ARTIMUS, 67 31d, 09.11.03

Red & White. A large lad with a long and very substantial body, showing excellent masculinity and maturity for age. Quite large ears, very well furnished and set just over an ear’s width apart. Triangular head of very good length and breadth for a young male. Obliquely set amber eyes giving the desired NFC expression. Nasal profile almost straight. Chin could be a little stronger and deeper for perfection. Long muscular body with a very solid feel to it. Large boning to limbs and feet. Tail just about reached the shoulders and was nicely furnished. Full ruff, coat of very good length to the back with a good woolly undercoat and excellent harsher topcoat, knickerbockers of good length. Van pattern red & white. He looked much better on the table than he appeared in his pen. Although a little shy, he handed well.
2ND ROWBERRY’S FENRISULVEN ALVIS, 67 31dt, 12.03.04
Red Tabby & White. A nicely grown young man, well balanced and showing the desired expression. Fairly large ears, nicely furnished, but set just a little on the wide side and he does have a tendency to flare them. However, I did feel that this related to his mood at the time as he didn’t seem too impressed to see us and was rather difficult to handle. Good triangular head of very nice length and good breadth for a youngster. Quite large eyes, set slightly obliquely. Good straight profile. Muzzle gave the impression of being a little rounded, partly due to him puffing out his whisker pads. Quite firm chin of nice depth. Long body, good muscle tone, quite large boning to limbs and feet. Beautifully balanced tail, very well furnished and reaching the shoulders. Woolly undercoat, guard hairs developing and harsher over the haunches. Shorter ruff, as one might expect for a boy of this age, quite full knickerbockers. Because he was rather unhappy he was difficult to assess today. I do hope that this is just an “off day” as he shows promise and was worthy of the CC. He could have won the certificate today if he had behaved a little better today. Well presented.
3RD SWIFT’S NORDLYS NOVEMBER, 67 36, 01.11.02
Black Smoke. A mature boy with a very substantial body, large broad head and full winter coat. Quite large ears, set fairly high and very alert. Head of reasonable length and good breadth, because of the full ruff it initially appeared round but was much better once the ruff was pulled back from the face to see the bone structure. Large eyes, perhaps needing to be just a little more obliquely set. Excellent straight profile. Muzzle a touch rounded rather than truly tapering. Good firm deep chin. Really long body, a little on the portly side. Gorgeous large boning, huge limbs and feet. Tail a little short in comparison to the body. Lovely full winter coat with a excellent woolly base and a waterproof glossy topcoat, full Elizabethan ruff and knickerbockers. Whilst colour counts for nothing, I would like to mention than he is an excellent smoke, appearing black until the coat is parted to reveal the silvery white base. Nice to handle and shown in excellent condition.

NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT FEMALE
BOB, LINDGREN’S CH DAYJOY TITANIA, 67 31es, 29.06.01

Tortie Smoke & White. I remember this girl as a rather extreme adolescent with, at times an almost Oriental head shape, but I said at the time that I felt that she should mature into a well balanced girl, and she has. Excellent triangular head shape, nicely balanced. Well furnished ears, set in the triangular head line, but could be a little larger for true balance. Straight profile to the nose. Good firm deep chin. Long, elegant, substantial body, large limbs and feet. Very well balanced tail, reaching the shoulders and nicely furnished. Full winter coat, ruff and knickerbockers, with a good woolly undercoat and glossy topcoat, although perhaps just a touch soft, as one might expect for a smoke cat. Fabulous to handle and groomed beautifully.
CC, HEALING’S JARRAHKATT AZZARA, 67 31t, 04.09.01
Brown Tabby & White. Now this girl really knew how to grovel round the judge and steward! She rubbed, purred and just adored all the attention that she could get! Quite large ears, alert and high, set very well on the triangular head. Very good overall head length and breadth, nicely balanced all round. Green eyes, expressive and set very well in the correct oblique set. Straight profile. Quite firm chin. Long body, muscular and substantial, balancing the head well. Quite large boning to limbs and feet. Balanced tail, easily reaching the shoulder and well furnished. Coat of good length with ruff and knickerbockers, woolly undercoat with a glossy topcoat. Topcoat a little soft, better over the haunches. Very affectionate indeed and well presented. Overall, a very well balanced mature girl.
2ND WHEELER’S DRAKBORGENS MISS QUICKFIX, 67 31et, 09.08.03
Tortie-Tabby & White. Another very nice girl indeed, and she ran my winner very close. Lovely large ears, well furnished and set high on the head. Good triangular head of excellent overall length with breadth developing. Excellent straight nasal profile. Quite firm chin of good depth. Super body length, long and with excellent muscle tone. Large boning to legs and feet. Tail easily reached the shoulders and was nicely furnished. Short coat at the moment, ruff starting to lengthen, quite full knickerbockers. I feel that she will look even better once her coat lengthens. Quite a high level of white, with patches of red and brown tabby, her whites really were pristine white! Another girl who was lovely to handle and very well presented.
3RD SEDGWICK’S CATWO SEA BISCUIT, 67 22a, 01.03.04
Blue Tortie & White. Very attractive young lady with a very pretty array of colours to the coat. Quite4 large ears, nicely furnished and set high on the head. Triangular length of nice overall length and breadth. Obliquely set green eyes, nice shape and expression. Nasal profile almost straight. Quite firm chin of nice depth. Quite long body, weighty and substantial. Fairly large limbs and feet. Very well furnished tail reaching the shoulders. Excellent coat length with full ruff and knickerbockers. Woolly undercoat and a good weatherproof topcoat. A little shy but handled well. Although coat colour is irrelevant, I do fee that she is a blue tortie-tabby & white rather than a solid blue tortie & white as she has clear tabby markings to both the blue and red areas of the body. I do feel that she is actually a 67 31gt rather than 67 22a and spoke to her owner about this after judging.
4TH WOOD’S NORSKMAGI FOEST SVANA 67 18a, 12.04.04
Blue Silver Tabby. This girl really did have the most wonderful NFC expression. Triangular head nicely balanced length to breadth. Beautifully furnished ears, set about an ear’s width apart although a little on the small side in comparison to the rest of the head. Beautiful expressive green eyes, set very well indeed, in an excellent oblique set. Lovely straight profile. Firm deep chin. Medium length body, very good weight for size, balanced limbs and feet. Lovely tail all round, balancing the body very well, with lots of furnishings. Very good coat length with ruff and knickerbockers, good length to the body, a little soft to the touch at the moment. At the moment, she is on the smaller side and still kittenish. Beautifully presented, a real joy to handle and I do hope that she grows as she matures, as she does look so “Norwegian”.

AOC MAINE COON KITTEN MALE
1ST CHADWICK’S PURRBODYS ZOLTAN LIONMAINE, 64 19, 26.06.04

Red Tabby. A very well grown lad indeed with fabulous large boning and substance. Nicely developed head of very good overall length and nice breadth with cheeks filling out. Large ears, huge tips and well furnished tufts. They are placed just over an ear’s width apart, although he does tend to flare them. Large orange eyes, set nicely in a slight oblique set. Shallow concave nasal curve, although there is a very small bump present just below the bridge. Well defined square muzzle, firm deep chin. Fabulous long muscular body, huge limbs, large round feet. Well balanced tail, very well plumed. Short coat, some ruff present, quite full breeches. Glossy topcoat, clear classic tabby markings, deep shade of red. Very well presented and lovely to handle.
2ND O’MALLEY’S EMYSCOONS RUFUS RILEY, 64 18d, 11.09.04
Red Silver Tabby. For twenty-one weeks, I was very impressed with this young man’s size, substance and body shape. Super ears, large and well furnished with tips and tufts, set high on the head, about an ear’s width apart. Lovely overall head length, breadth still to develop and unfilled cheeks at the moment. Large hazel eyes, expressive and set well in a slight oblique set. Shallow concave curve, tiny drop-off present towards the tip. Square muzzle, firm deep chin. Really long body, gorgeous large boning, huge, limbs and feet. Tail easily reached the shoulders, furnishings developing. Soft kitten coat, very little evidence of tabby markings to the body and I feel that he may actually be a shaded, although with the short coat and his tender age, this is not easy to say for certain. He absolutely loved the attention and was beautifully prepared. A young man with potential for the future and I really did agonise between the two for the first place as both had so much going for them.

AOC MAINE COON KITTEN FEMALE
Lots of very nice babies in this class, and I did have to leave some nice kittens out of the placings today when they really did deserve something.
1ST & BOB, FALLOWS’ HARTSCOON KETCHUP KATY, 64 31et, 22.06.04
Tortie-Tabby & White. A very stylish young lady with a gorgeous expression. Head of very good overall length, well balanced breadth with cheeks filling out well. Large ears, set high on the head, very alert, set just under an ear’s width apart and beautifully furnished with tips and tufts. Beautiful green eyes, large and set in a really good slight oblique set. Good shallow concave curve to the nose although there is a very slight drop-off evident towards the tip. Well defined square muzzle, firm deep chin. Lovely rectangular body, with a very substantial and muscular feel to it. Large boning to limbs and feet. Well furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders. Shorter ruff, although length is developing, coat lengthening down the body, some undercoat and a good glossy topcoat, full breeches. Vibrant mix of red and brown tabby, rich copper agouti base, quite clear classic tabby markings, white to bib, chest, tummy and all four feet. Super to handle and shown in beautiful condition.
2ND SWINBURN’S BEARDWOOD ANGELINA, 64 14c, 10.09.04
Green Eyed White. For just five months old, I was very impressed with this young lady’s style, size, shape and substance. Large ears, set very well, high and alert, spaced about an ear’s width apart and sporting lovely tips and tufts. Head of very good length and showing good breadth with cheeks already filling out well. Large eyes, set in a slight oblique set, green eye colour developing. Good shallow concave curve to the nose. Well defined square muzzle, firm chin of good depth. Lovely long body, excellent muscle tone and substance with large limbs and feet. Tail easily reached the shoulders, nicely furnished and balancing the body. Long baby coat, nice texture with ruff and breeches. Very well presented indeed, she really was “Persil” white, beautifully groomed and great to handle.
3RD FOSS’ CHESARA PRINCESSVALERINA, 64 18, 10.09.04
Silver Tabby. A very well grown girl for not quite eight months old with a wild feral expression. Really large ears, well furnished with large tips and tufts, at the moment they are set just under an ear’s width apart. Head of very good length, starting to broaden with cheeks starting to fill out. Lovely green eyes, slightly obliquely set. Good shallow concave curve to the nose. Square muzzle, firm chin. Long body, very muscular and substantial. Large boning to limbs and paws. Very well balanced tail, nicely furnished and reaching the shoulders. Some tabby markings, a little solid over the back. Quite full ruff and breeches, good coat length to the body being shorter over the shoulders and lengthening down the sides and tummy, very good glossy topcoat with some undercoat present. Very slight tarnishing to nose. Nicely presented and handled well.
4TH CASBORN’S PALMAINE SAGAR’N’SPICE, 64 20e, 15.05.04
Tortie-Tabby. A well grown girl, just sneaking into kitten classes by a week. Quite large ears, nicely furnished and set about an ear’s width apart although she does tend to flare them until her attention is gained. Head of nice length and good breadth with cheeks filling out. Eyes set nicely in the correct slight oblique, perhaps just a fraction deep set for perfection. Square muzzle, although I would like to see it just a touch longer to fully balance the rest of the head. Firm chin of nice depth. Long muscular body, good substantial feel to it. Quite large limbs and feet. Beautifully furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders. Nice coat length, ruff starting to lengthen, full breeches, coat of nice length to the body, mingled mixture of red and brown tabby with some tabby markings present. Another girl who was very easy to handle.

AV SLH MAIDEN ADULT
1ST WORMALD’S DANLEIGH STARBURST, 13c6, F, 25.04.04

Seal Tortie Point Birman. I see now that this was the kitten I was so impressed with at Notts & Derby. Gorgeous expression with a strong broad feminine head of lovely shape. Medium sized ears, set well apart on the rounded skull. Large deep blue eyes, almost round and set well. Slight dip to the nose, small bump present. Firm tapering chin. Fabulous long substantial body, medium length limbs, short paws. Bushy tail, balancing the body nicely. Well marked gloves and gauntlets. Points all showed both seal brown and red, nicely defined and contrasting well with the fawn body. Shown in tiptop condition and wonderful to handle. She was certainly one of my take home cats of the day.
2ND LISTER’S COONARIA ARIELLA, 64 20, 08.04.04
Brown Tabby Maine Coon. This girl was just so unlucky to meet Starburst in this class today as she really was a winner in her own right. Super expression, so typical of the breed. Excellent balance to the head, being slightly longer than its breadth, with cheeks nicely filled. Large ears, set an ear’s width apart, very well furnished with tips and tufts. Large hazel eyes, set well and in a slight oblique setting. Excellent shallow concave nasal curve. Well defined square muzzle, fairly firm chin of good depth. Very long body, excellent muscle tone and substance. Huge boning for a female with really large limbs and feet. Tail easily reached the shoulders and was well furnished. Nice coat length to the body with ruff and breeches, glossy topcoat. Quite warm copper agouti base, nicely marked classic tabby pattern. Lovely to handle and beautifully groomed for the show.
3RD ATKINSON’S VELVET JEWEL’S CULLINAN, 64 20, M, 17.12.03
Brown Tabby & White Maine Coon.

AV SLH RADIUS ADULT
1ST JOINER’S STUKELIN MINI SENSATION, 64 31et, F, 31.12.03

Tortie-Tabby & White. A very pretty girl with vibrant patches of red and brown tabby, contrasting well with the white bib, chest, tummy and feet. Quite large ears, set high on the head and nicely furnished. Head of nice length and breadth with cheeks filling out. Lovely green eyes, set well. Nose shows very slight bump although it does have a good shallow concave curve. Muzzle square, perhaps a touch on the shorter side although it does balance the rest of the head. Firm chin. Medium sized body, nicely muscled and balanced with the head. Quite large limbs and feet. Excellent tail all round, easily surpassing the shoulders and very well furnished. Quite full ruff, well grown breeches, coat of very nice length and texture to the body. Very attractive colours with patches or red and brown tabby, correct level of white. Very easy to handle and well groomed for the show.
2ND THOMPSON’S CH ASWANI JUST WILLIAM, 63cs, M, 06.07.03
Blue Silver Somali. When we arrived at this lad’s pen, he had just started what looked to be a very tasty lunch and he was very reluctant to leave it behind. Consequently he was rather wriggly and desperate to return to his dinner – perhaps we should have brought out his food bowl with him to make our lives easier. A nicely grown boy showing elegance, although he is perhaps a little adolescent and hormonal at the moment. Large, nicely furnished ears, set well apart yet high with a crescent moon shape between them, apparent when viewed from behind. Head of nice length with gentle contours, although the muzzle appears a little pinched at the moment. Green eyes, nice almond shape, set obliquely and well apart. Very slight nose break present. Fairly firm chin. Medium length body, muscular and elegant. Long limbs and well tufted oval paws. Balanced tail, nicely furnished and tapering slightly towards the tip. Quite full breeches, some ruff present. Coat a little harsh and open at the moment, although I felt that his age and male hormones could have something to do with this. Nicely ticked but it is quite a dark shade of blue, silvery white base when the coat is parted. Unfortunately he does have a lot of tarnishing present, in particular to the head, limbs and chest and this does detract from the overall impression of a silver cat. He was quite happy to be handled once returned to his pen and could see that we hadn’t stolen his lunch!

1ST HAYNES’ GR PR DAIRYMAINE CHESTATON, 64 19, 05.05.03

Red Tabby. This lad is a super chap all round. Large ears, set high on the head, very well furnished with tips on the top and feathering from the inner edge of the ear extending well beyond the outer edges. Lovely head, excellent overall length and very well balanced, being slightly longer than its breadth with high cheek bones and fairly full cheeks. Slightly obliquely set eyes, large and expressive, quite deep orange colour. There is tiny bump just below the bridge but this doesn’t really detract from the overall shallow concave curve of the nose. Square muzzle, firm deep chin. Wonderful long rectangular body, with well toned muscle and very good weight. Huge limbs and feet. Beautifully furnished tail, easily reaching the shoulders despite the really long body. Gorgeous coat qualities, undercoat with a glossy topcoat, quite clear classic tabby pattern, deep red with a bright apricot base colour. Fabulous temperament, great to handle and groomed to perfection.
2ND STABLES’ PR MERLIESIN CAISEL BEAG, 63, MN, 26.10.03
Usual Somali. A very well grown and elegant young man with a lovely expression and typical Somali smile. Large ears, set high and wide apart, nicely cupped and pricked. Moderate wedge to the head with good gentle contours and an indentation forming the muzzle. Hazel eyes, almond shaped and set obliquely, well marked with spectacles and pencil lines. Good slight nose break with a slight rise from the nasal bridge to the forehead. Chin quite firm and of good depth. He is quite large for a Somali, beautifully balanced with a very firm muscular body, long legs and well tufted oval feet. He has a real air of elegance when he stands on the trolley. Some ruff present, full breeches, fine soft coat to the body, medium length, dense and lying flat along the spine. Long balanced tail, tapering slightly towards the tip. He gives an overall impression of a warm colour with a rich apricot base, well ticked with black, darker spine line and top of tail. Very well marked black heels. Although he does have some grey roots, the coat is pale at the base beside the skin. Shown in super condition and very unlucky to meet Chestaton in this class.
